Hey!!!  Just hanging out, got my nails did (by me)….. LIKE A BOSS.  I’m just getting over a cold and I only did my nails once last week! GASP!!  This past weekend my boyfriend, Andrew, was in a wedding and it was so much fun!  The groom was a close friend of his from high school and the bride is awesome; they fit each other really well and make an amazing couple.  Fun times were had and a whole lot of drinking happened, which is more than I’m used to and I paid the price this week.  I painted my nails with Nails Inc Baker Street and it lasted a really long time, which is unusual for me because my manis last about 2-3 days.  I think Baker Street made it almost a whole week!!! A.WHOLE.WEEK.

This mani below didn’t last as long, so behold the beauty of GOLD…………

Essie With OPII waited and searched for the Mariah Carey Pure 18K White Gold and Silver Top Coat, because $40 was a bit extreme.  I waited and waited until alas, it appeared on Ebay for $20!  I bought it shortly after Christmas, and just got around to using it and it was kind of disappointing.  For some reason, I expected a lot more, even though I had bought the Zoya top coat which is similar, but I don’t know; it was a let down.  I do like the way this applied because it looks like I did a gradient.  The base is Essie Go Overboard by the way.

Anyone else have this?? Did you feel the same way when you used it? Leave me a comment with what your experience was like too.

Music to my Ears

Hey, hey, hey!!!  I hope all of you aren’t roasting to death like we are today here in WNY.  It is so gross outside, it just slaps you in the face… like a face slapper! OUCH!  If you know me in real life, you know I really like music and that I dabble in an instrument or two.  If  you only know me from the Internet, then you know now too, so good for you.   I did this mani a while back and it was inspired by a french tip mani I had seen on Essie’s Facebook page (?).  They used Find me an Oasis as the base and Go Overboard as the french tip, which I got really excited for because I owned both of those.  Find me an Oasis is a really nice, pastel baby blue that is a bitch to photograph, and Go Overboard is a deep, rich teal.  I used Find me an Oasis as the base and stamped with Go Overboard and here is the result:

You can barely tell it’s a light blue, and it usually photographs white-ish.  Bitch.  Go Overboard helps to bring out the blue in it, I think so whatever and the stamp is BM 411.  I really, really love bundle monster; they are the most consistent (quality wise)and just have really good ideas/images.  Can I work for you???? Thanks, appreciate it.

That’s all I have for you folks today, short and sweet, mostly because I’m dozing off writing this.  BYE!!

Live and Laugh

Hey people!!! What’s up???  I’ve been M.I.A. again, sorry…………… I bet you’re tired of hearing my excuses; I’m such a lousy girlfriend.  Not much has been going on with me, just working as usual.  I really need to win the lottery or more plausibly, get a better job lol.  We will see which ever one happens first (come on lottery!)  I’ve been doing my nails and what not, that’s not the issue, but them constantly breaking is though!!  I have broken so many nails lately and they are cute, little nubbins as you will soon see.  I do everything I can think of: I use Nailtiques 2, use cuticle oil, use cuticle remover, base coats, no chip top coats and NOTHING!!!!!!!! So frustrating!!!  Here is my latest foray into stamping and I was really impressed with how they came out!

The base is Essie Marshmallow, stamping black is the Tami brand that Ashley sent me (from one of my nail polish groups) and stamped with BM 405.  I was just really impressed with the quality of how the words came out, so clear and crisp.  Really well done bundle monster, bravo!

Our weather is finally starting to break and it’s nice out for more than one day at a time, what are you guys planning for the upcoming summer?? Trips? Shakespeare in the Park??  Let me know!  I like receiving comments, so you better leave me one *shakes fist*!

Gold Star For You!

Hey people! I literally just did the manicure, and it came out ok.  I do like the stamp and how it came out, but I stopped at one because I thought it would be a bit much.  I honestly love this navy, it’s by far my favorite base color, which I often use instead of black to tone it back a bit from emo.  The base color is China Glaze First Mate, the stamping polish is Essie Penny Talk and PUEEN24.

I had naked nails (eek! I know!) for a day, which is just bizarre truly.  I have been wanting to use this stamp for a while, but it’s hard to decide what colors to do with it and it just seems so busy and in your face so I don’t know.  I am currently watching The Only Way is Essex, which is ridiculous lol  You need to watch the show!  Enough said.

The above picture is without a flash, and I tried to get it so the chrome polish is out of control blingy so I messed with the colors and shit.  It’s just a navy polish, but still you know.

CGFirstMateWithEssiePennyTalkFlashThis above picture (the second on the page) is with a flash, which looks a lot better than without a flash.  This is so cute though, I do like the accent nail though.

Do you think I should have done all the fingers or is the accent nail just enough?  Let me know!!!!!!!

Peace out boo!

Hey there people!  Happy Memorial Day!!!!!!  I just want to give a quick shout out the troops, past and present, and thank them for their service.  Several members of my family served in the military, so it’s not in vain that I say those words.

On an unrelated note, I didn’t do a Memorial Day manicure–I’m not really good at themed manicures; I just do what I want to unless I really set out to do something really specific.  I recently purchased Essie Mint Candy Apple from a fellow lacquer head, because it just seemed to disappear from Target’s Essie display over night.  What the hell Target?? How could you do that to us?!?!  Ok, whew,…..ok.

I absolutely, 100% love the color combination of black/turquoise/teal/aqua.  I swear to god I would do my whole house those colors with pops of coral and white to spruce it up!! DOPE.

Here it is:

BlackChevronswithEssieIt seemed no matter what I did, I could not really get a great picture of this manicure.  Does that ever happen to anyone?  I just have a point and click camera, so nothing fancy over here, but damn it, it’s annoying as shit.  I take like 20 pictures and MAYBE one is good to use.  Sorry, back to the polish.

The base is Essie Mint Candy Apple, which went on really well (no surprise!) and was amazing by itself.  I was kind of mad that I covered it up with the chevrons, because they seem to take up most of the surface area of my nail and they looked kind of black.  Then for shits and giggles I threw some China Glaze Agent Lavender dots on the sides to spruce it up and PUEEN 03.  So pretty much this manicure summed one weekend in college–filled with a lot of regret and bad choices.  If you know what I mean 😉

I overall like this manicure, a few things I would differently as I mentioned before, but it’s good.

Let me know what you think!!!

Keep it tight people!

You “butter” fly away!

Hey everybody, come enjoy the fun of puns!!!!  I LOVE puns, especially really bad ones, I can’t express that enough.  I like to “challenge” myself in thinking of new, witty post titles.  I hope everyone had a good weekend!  It is FINALLY starting to heat up here and I hate it!  I feel like I’m melting, like today it was 84 and I died (<–Rachel Zoe style), it was cray cray.  Ok, so I did this manicure a LOOOONG time ago and this was my second attempt at using the PUEEN plates, so it’s still a rocky.  On one of my fingers you can see where I tried to fix and FAILED miserably 🙂 I like showing these semi-failed manis because, let’s face it, this shit doesn’t always come out looking amazing.  I mess up, and I’m sure many others do too, and I’m not afraid to put it out there.  Let’s do this!!!

CopperButterflyThe base coat is Finger Paints Black Expressionism; stamping color is Essie Penny Talk and stamping plate is PUEEN 04.  I just realized that I did a piss poor clean up job around my cuticles and I apologize.  The one plus about this manicure is that I really like the way the copper butterflies look and I like the pattern.  I do like these sort of stamps, that’s for sure.

SIDE NOTE:  I feel like the post’s title is a punch line for Paula Deen.

I don’t have much more to say, but keep your heads up my lovelies and keep truckin’ on!!!!!!

Hello all!!!! Are you intrigued by my obscure title??? I bet you are, that’s how I get ya! BOOM!  I’ve been working with the PUEEN stamping plates and I’m quite pleased.  I really like some of the designs, and I don’t feel like there are  repeats of Bundle Monster and/or Konad.  If I wanted two sets of BM plates, I would just buy them, ok people.  Get original ideas please, thank you.  I LOVE blue–dark, light, dusty, etc. and what ever other adjective you can think of that pertains to blue!  I especially love color schemes that have a dark/light shade on one of another of the same color family.  So here’s my take on it:

Essie and Sally HansenThe base color is Essie Go Overboard, which is a killer color; stamping color is Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Water Color and PUEEN 15.  I really, really like the contrast!!!! I was really pleased how this mani came out.  I specifically wanted to use a stamp that interchanged the image, which is hard to come by.  Me no like.

What do you think?  I want to try it with purples and perhaps pinks? I don’t know, but it’s lovely and I loved it.  Let me know what you guys think!!  I really like reading your opinions and feedback on manicures,  I’m not going to cry in a corner if you say something I don’t like 🙂

I also entered in a nail art contest, which there was a previous post so please refer to that to vote for me!!!! If you do vote for me, thanks and if you don’t, for shame!!!!!!

Golden Flakes

Hey guys!! Quick post!!! I’m entering my very first contest and it’s for stamping!!!  My base color is China Glaze’s Dorothy Who? and the stamping color is Essie Penny Talk.  I was going for Christmas colors, while trying to maintain snowflakes falling on a deep blue, twinkling sky.  I used BM 323 and I had been looking for a way to start sneaking in Christmas manicures, and here it is:

Wish me luck and here is a link to the blog and the other entries into the contest!  Creative Nail Design by Sue

HEY GUYS!!!!!  I missed you all so much.  What have you guys been up to??!?!?!?  How are the kids doing?? First, I just want to apologize for my severe absence.  For the last week and a half I have had a serious cold and the shit knocked me on my ass to be honest.  The last thing I wanted to be smelling was nail polish fumes, even though that might have cleared up my sinuses…..hmm…… Anyway,  I am feeling much better and just have a gross cough left and I’m back on the polish train! Choo, Choo!!!  To make up for my lack of posting, I’ve been buying polish like a motherf’er, oh yeah I said it. LIKE. A. MOTHERF’ER.  Soon I will have SO MANY pretties to show you!!!! It’ll be magical like a unicorn’s ass!

I have such adoration for blue polishes-be it navy, teal, aqua, turquoise, and any other blue-ish colors I can’t think of right now.  I bought this polish when the China Glaze Electropop Collection came out.  This is such a gorgeous turquoise/teal (?) color.  It’s awesome, if you can get it please do so.

Then like a day or two later to spruce it up, I decided to use Essie Stroke of Brilliance–pictured below:

I bought this awhile ago and I’m not a fan.  The formula is great and everything, but I just can’t do glitter.  Glitter topcoats are hit or miss for me; it just doesn’t tickle my fancy, if you will.

Well, as always ladies and gents, I’m about to bounce like a ghetto booty and get on with my night. Just a hint here, if you click on the pictures, they will become full size.  If you see a bunch of scratches on my hands, it’s from my adorable, psycho kitten.  Ok, enough rambling!

***FYI Models Own is having a 50% sale until October 2, 2012!!! Use the code SUMMERSALE (must be at least 25 British Pounds or 5 polishes)***

Bauble Head

Hey people! How are you doing??  Last night, my boyfriend and I finally went to see The Dark Knight Rises and it was pretty good, if I say so.  I really liked Anne Hathaway as Cat Woman, her outfits were amazing!!!  I love her hair too, so jealous! Total girl crush on her.  When I found out she had a pixie cut for Les Miserables, I think my heart stopped. Shall I get back on topic instead of ranting about Anne Hathaway’s hair?? Sure.  So a while ago I saw Nails Inc. Baker Street and I fell in love………*swoon*  I had been wanting it for a while but never could get up to Sephora to get it, because they are the only ones near me that sell Nails Inc.  Yesterday I made the leap, and for a cool $10.38 victory was mine! Another polish I had been trackin down was Essie’s Bobbing for Baubles; it’s a gorgeous dusty navy–fabulous.  I managed to snag this baby from a fellow lacquer head Jen Guin, author of I LOVE this color.  The pictures don’t do it justice 😦

It just loosk navy, which is super stank. I still  love it though, and it’s amazing.  The application was flawless in true Essie style, just amazing.  Essie is such a great brand and I’m sorry I hadn’t introduced myself to this brand earlier.  Well, with all of my rantings about Anne Hathaway and random polishes, I shall say good bye.
