Hey people! What’s up?? Sorry yet again for the lack of posts, just haven’t been feeling it. I have no inspiration or I’m tired or a combination of both; I’ve just been painting them and that’s it. Not much in the mood for nail art, partly because every time I try to stamp it comes out looking like shit! I mean shit, like half the stamp doesn’t pick up, it’s smudged, has a blur in the middle, etc. If you stamp, you know what I mean. This is one of my latest attempts at stamping and a new brand to me!
I picked up this polish from Five Below by Fresh Paints. I bought three of these polishes when I was there and a few for my friend Heather because we don’t have on in Buffalo. I used Fresh Paints Bonna Blue as the base and I can’t say I’m impressed. The formula is heavily pigmented, which is nice, but the trade-off is that it is very thick and hard to work with. I feel like my nails look like garbage in here, but I’m going to keep it real with you guys and post it anyway.
The stamping is shit too! LOL I like the idea behind this manicure, but the execution was poor and just shitty all around.
It was very Hawaiian luau feel with the hibiscus flowers and baby blue. The stamp was BM 318 stamped with Tani Black. The stamp on my index finger is like half missing on the bottom, because I was taking too long and I just couldn’t get it to stick. I even tried to double stamp it to see if I could maybe fill it in and even that wouldn’t work for me.
Dang all around, just dang it to heck!
Hey! It’s been a while since we last spoke and I got another gold mine for ya! I think one of the first few manicures I did was a splatter and I almost passed out. If you have ever done one or attempted to do one, you know what I’m talking about. That shit is serious. I was really excited when I saw the splatter stamp on the new Bundle Monster plates. I painted my base with OPI My Vampire is Buff and I didn’t like the way it looked: streaky, bald spots, and just kind of odd-looking. I stamped over it and this is the result:
I stamped with China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy over Tani black polish. This is without the flash and the one below is with the flash so you can see the neon:
On both, I stamped with stamp and then the second time I stamped it upside down to achieve a true splatter effect.
What do you think???
HEY! Did I get your attention? OH yeah! Another long week at work, which I haven’t had a day off since Thursday and I’m about to die! I have to go out-of-town this weekend so I had to take Friday through Sunday off, so I guess it’s my own fault, but it still sucks. This weather lately has been fucking nuts! The other day I was at work and it was a straight monsoon out there: vertical rain, 10-15 mile per hour winds, and everyone hovering in our lobby to avoid the rain. I was so surprised we didn’t get the 4 inch hail stones or whatever ridiculous size it was… that shit is nuts! Fuck you hurricanes and your impending doom weather! I think my brain just melted……..
On to the polish!
The base color is OPI Yoga-Ta Get This Blue and I stamped with China Glaze Platinum Silver. This is about the second time I used this blue, which I received in a grab bag that I purchased, and it is so nice. It’s a nice deep, shimmery blue that isn’t overpowering with an amazing formula. I’ve had China Glaze Platinum Silver for a very long time and only use it for stamping really, and it works really well. I highly recommend it for stamping. I like to see which random polishes I have work for stamping, it’s a nice little treat! The stamp is BM 423.
Talk to you saucy minxes later!
What up, what up?? Hope everyone has their plans set and made for tomorrow!!! I will be working til 4 and then I’m free!! I have no plans, but who knows. No need to go anywhere to see fireworks considering every house on our street does their own in the middle of the street. Safety first kids! One year it was so bad, we had to close all of our windows due to the smell of sulfur.
Unfortunately, you will not be seeing any 4th of July nails from me due to my plan completely fucking tanking! So pissed, but I like what I did anyway, so win/win?? I had a great idea of a two-colored stamp on white nails and it looked so cute in my head, but apparently that’s where it stopped. These nails coming at you in this post are no way related to the 4th of July so…..I guess that’s my segue!
Whenever I do dots, I always seem to do them in this curve like you see above, which maybe you have noticed. I don’t know why, so that’s about it for that. I tried to do a gradient dotticure that I saw on Chalkboard Nails, but mine did not end up anything like hers. Maybe it scared me into not doing dotticures, so instead you get this. The dots are China Glaze Urban night (deep purple), Fade Into Hue (periwinkle blue) and the base is OPI My Vampire is Buff. I wanted something light, because I tend to gravitate towards dark colors, so this is what I conjured up.
Tomorrow is 4th of July and I shall maybe have another post for you, but if I don’t “see” you then, have a safe, long weekend!
Hey there buckaroos! I’m trying to write this post while my cat “makes muffins” on my tummy in front of the computer screen. Cat people problems right?? I’ve been trying to use some of my older polishes or polishes that I haven’t worn more than once. I broke out Funky Fingers Jawbreaker; I believe this is the second time I have worn this polish. First time I wore it did it on all of my fingers and they were a little too funky for me, so I used a second time as accent nails. My co-worker/friend Heather and I were trying to come up with ideas for it, so this is a collaborative effort. The black is by Tani, which this is the best black nail polish I have ever used and as mentioned, the accent nails are Funky Fingers Jawbreaker.
I like Jawbreaker and I don’t at the same time. The formula is great, it’s a white, jelly base and it’s opaque in about three coats. The glitter is a bit tough to work with, because the larger hexes don’t really stick to your nail, you have to place them with the brush. I’m fine doing that, but don’t expect anything amazing to happen with glitter placement.
The black is just amazing. The formula is beyond anything and it goes on like ink and covers like it as well; just amazing. LOVE.
That’s about it for this, I feel like I’m rambling so I’m going to put you out of your misery and say good-bye!
Hey, hey, hey!!! I hope all of you aren’t roasting to death like we are today here in WNY. It is so gross outside, it just slaps you in the face… like a face slapper! OUCH! If you know me in real life, you know I really like music and that I dabble in an instrument or two. If you only know me from the Internet, then you know now too, so good for you. I did this mani a while back and it was inspired by a french tip mani I had seen on Essie’s Facebook page (?). They used Find me an Oasis as the base and Go Overboard as the french tip, which I got really excited for because I owned both of those. Find me an Oasis is a really nice, pastel baby blue that is a bitch to photograph, and Go Overboard is a deep, rich teal. I used Find me an Oasis as the base and stamped with Go Overboard and here is the result:
You can barely tell it’s a light blue, and it usually photographs white-ish. Bitch. Go Overboard helps to bring out the blue in it, I think so whatever and the stamp is BM 411. I really, really love bundle monster; they are the most consistent (quality wise)and just have really good ideas/images. Can I work for you???? Thanks, appreciate it.
That’s all I have for you folks today, short and sweet, mostly because I’m dozing off writing this. BYE!!
Hey there party people!!!! We are finally having nice weather on a REGULAR basis here in Buffalo!!! It’s amazing and it’s so nice to be able to walk out of the house coat free!!! I hope all is well with my fellow readers/bloggers. I haven’t been doing much nail art, just keeping up my nails with color so they don’t look so awful. I have also suffered several breaks on my swatch hand and the other, so that doesn’t inspire much. On a completely unrelated note, I have been binging on shows and I started watching The Wire from the beginning and it’s so good and odd. The first season is awesome, second season is booooring, season three is meh, and I’m in season 4 and so far so good.
This is a manicure I did a long time ago and by far the best stamping I have ever done!!! I absolutely LOVED this manicure and it came out exactly like I wanted and it was just gorgeous! The base color is China Glaze Urban Night:
This is one of my all time favorite purples, it’s from the China Glaze Metro Collection and it’s just fucking awesome!
Now for the grand finale!!!!
I can’t even express how much I loved this!!! In person, it was subtle but classy and my co-worker/friend Heather said that they looked like the Sally Hansen Salon Effects, which made me feel proud and brought a tear to my eye. Sorry to brag, but GOD DAMN SON!!!!!! The plate is BM 406 and I highly recommend it playas.
*drop the mic*
Hey, what up? Your eyes do not deceive you, this is another post!!!! OMG, like wha?? I think I just tinkled a little…how about you? I’ve really started to get back into stamping, because I can’t draw worth a shit. I mean, if you ask me to draw a circle, you’ll get an oval or some other random shape. The drawing skill must have skipped me because my older brother and younger sister are incredible artists, me?? Not so much. Also, for a while I had convinced myself that stamping takes way too long, and that I didn’t want to ruin my mani if I messed up the stamping.
Discovering stamping plates was the best thing for me, because after seeing Sarah (Chalkboard Nails) and Sammy (the Nailasaurus) and their KILLER art/skill, you start to feel a bit inadequate, like “shit, that’s not real. Did they really draw that?”…then you start weeping into your acetone.
At first, I couldn’t figure out what the hell this stamp was: arrows? fish bones? I had no idea, so I just went with it anyway and I was pleasantly surprised on how it looked and turned out. I was particularly proud of these nails because I got them ALL to face the same direction ON BOTH HANDS.
The base is OPI My Vampire is Buff, black is Tani brand, blue is China Glaze First Mate and the plate is BM 410. When I looked at the OPI bottle I had just used, I was confused because I had completely forgot that I owned MVIB. It makes you happy and then you realized “oh shit, maybe I have too many if I can’t remember what I own?” Then I laughed because that’s crazy talk!
See ya later peeps!
Happy Memorial Day!! First, I’ll say thank you to all those that have served and are currently saving and that I do appreciate it greatly. I was trying to think of something easy and quick, because I did these after I had worked an open to close and had friends coming over too. I did a white base, Zoya Purity and then decided that I had to have navy and red, duh! There was no way I was doing stripes, because it would have turned into a blob, so stars it was! I used China Glaze First Mate for the navy and China Glaze China Rogue for the red stamping on my thumb.
Zoya Purity and China Glaze First Mate
I used PUEEN plate 24 and I just can’t figure out how to get a super crisp image from these plates. I tried to go back through and clean up the smudges but it just wasn’t working for me. The picture below is me trying to capture the thumb, which I ROYALLY screwed up so take pity on me, ok?
Look at those marvelous stars people! Doesn’t it make you want to cry?! So just ignore the right side of my thumb nail and focus on the top middle portion/left side and we’ll be ok. I wanted to get all the fingers in so you can get the whole stars sensation and patriotism.
If anyone has these plates, let me know your tricks and tips for getting a clear, non-smudgy image to stamp. Thanks again everyone!
Hey there ladies and gents (if applicable)! What’s up? Not much here really, my birthday was the 14th, and my boyfriend made me a delicious steak dinner, which I’m always game for; it makes my mouth water just thinking about it!! Enough about my caveman ways and to the nail polish!
I never really used any or bought any UK brands, but when I saw W7’s Salt ‘n’ Pepper I knew I had to have it. It is a white, crelly polish with black micro glitters in the base, which is amazing. The formula is great, coverage is awesome with or without undies, and I love it! It’s a jelly sandwich in a bottle! I did want to try out a few more over sea brands, but I just haven’t gotten to it yet, even though that will probably change…….mua ha ha ha! The base is about 3-4 coats for this manicure without undies, and I stamped over it because I just wasn’t feeling it.
There were some issues with spreading the glitters equally, which is my fault for not paying attention. In my attempts to cover up my dislike, I stamped with BM 221 (throw back, what what)!! I tried to zoom in close so you could see the best of both worlds.
I also debuted my new water mark that I used making Photoshop, I feel so accomplished!
Bye you hotties!!! Keep it hott!
